MULTI GENERATION FIRST HOME MATCH FOR CINQUE PORTS FC

Cinque Ports FC, following their away league opening win played at home to Kings Hill Reserves, The Ports came back from 3-0 down in the first half to draw 3-3 making them proudly staying undefeated. At the match were a number of spectators and 3 young mascots, siblings of the team and management, they were also honoured with the presence of an 82 year old man accompanied by his wife of 60 years. Pat and Betty Burke made national newspapers in January 2023 when doctors signed a do not resuscitate document for Pat when he was ill at QEQM.

Club Secretary Peter Davies met the couple on the Friday when Pat and Betty were taking a stroll in Marke Wood recreation Ground the day before match day, Pat confessed it was his first walk in 2023, Pat asked if he could attend the game the next day, he and his wife were honoured guests for the day, Pat addressed the team after the game and said that he thoroughly enjoyed himself and that he and his wife would certainly come back.

Pat had played at Marke Wood when the Pavillion was first built and he was shocked with the changes to the interior, with two changing rooms with showers, refs room and a room where guests can have coffees and teas.

The club need to hear from 3 reasonably fit volunteers to help a reasonably unfit Club Secretary set things up  and take things down for match days for two teams, refreshments will be provided plus they can expect to see 90 minutes of great grassroots football, please call Peter Davies on 07540 973162.  The club are also looking for local sponsors to help the club climb the leagues and make progress, you can also ring the same number if interested.
